Carpet Vs Laminate Flooring – Which Flooring Is Best For You?

Looking to find your perfect flooring and not too sure where to start? Sometimes, even beginning to think about what type of flooring to go for can be the hardest part, each room and home has differing requirements, therefore finding the perfect flooring is one that’s totally personal. There are plenty variables when it comes to choosing between Laminate Flooring or Carpet, so we’ve put together a handy guide to help making the decision that little more easier.

The price difference between laminate and carpet are fairly similar, however, something to consider is how long the flooring you’ve opted floor will stand the test of time?

Cost is often an important determining factor when it comes to making a choice between any two or more products. That is especially the case when it comes to flooring choices.

That’s because flooring is normally priced on a per-square-foot basis. The more square feet you have in your room, the more expensive the cost will be.

Cleanliness & Care

Carpet and Laminate or very different when it comes to cleanliness and care. Laminate flooring tends to be fairly easy to clean, with a quick brush and mop doing the trick to get rid of any dirt or odours. Carpet, however, can be little more tricky. Odours and dirt tend to sink into carpets and can build up heavily over time. Although you may hoover your carpet on the regular, a deep clean is needed to really lift out any stubborn dirt.

If you struggle with your allergies, carpet may not be the best for you, but laminate flooring being easy to clean, makes it much more hypoallergenic.

Durability is a key concern when you’re making the choice between any two products, but especially flooring. Who wants to be replacing their flooring every other year? It’s expensive enough as it is to install the first time, and to coordinate the style and colors between your flooring and everything else in that room and in the rest of your house.

On the low, low end, both laminate flooring and carpet can last fewer than three years. That’s not a very long shelf life now, is it? You want to make sure you’re opting for the best quality possible and not just going with one because you’ll save a bit of money, because chances are, it will need replacing in the blink of an eye.

In terms of simple life span, both laminate and carpet will last anywhere from 8 to 15 years. But durability is more than how many years it will last before you have to replace it completely. Instead, durability is also about wear and tear  between the time of installation and the time you need to replace the entire floor.

Although Laminate and Carpet have their pros and cons, you want to make sure you’re looking after them properly to ensure that you give them a decent lifespan in your home.
